The Negative Will Power or Satan
THE NEGATIVE WILL POWER OR SATAN
Satan has emerged as a superpower equal to our Lord, he is known as the ruler of demons “BEELZEBUB” (Lk 11:15) – this Satan in the spiritual world is known as the Negative Power of mind – and this is the power which drives the seeker away from the kingdom of God. Satan does not live in hell but he lives inside human mortals and guides the true seeker away from God. Since living according to the commands of the Bible is not easy for everybody – it is like walking on a two edged sharp sword. The negative power will never allow one to lead the path towards spirituality. Many pitfalls will happen.
A spiritual seeker should have a steady mind and should not pave way to negative thoughts. Mind is like a “Coiled Cobra” kept inside a basket –calm inside the basket but once left outside the basket it will strike its venom with full vigor and strength. The mind will pretend to obey the seeker and remain calm – the moment it gets the opportunity towards material possession it flies off pushing the seeker again into sin. Jesus was well aware of this cunning trick of the mind. In order to explain the power of the negative power i.e. Satan – He set Himself an example. “…then Jesus was led up by the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil…” (Matt 4:1). Here the temptation of the devil means the temptation of the mind. Mind is referred here as the devil.
Jesus was fasting for 40 days and has achieved the trance in spirituality – He was in His “inner realms” communication with God, so nothing bothered Him – but the negative power tempted Him to change “stone into bread” (Matt 4:3). Jesus even though after fasting did not heed His mind or the negative power, so He said “…man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God…” (Matt 4:4).
This was a powerful explanation which Jesus delivered to the Devil – an indirect communication to human beings who search their path towards spirituality. We, mortals assume that if we do not appease our belly, we may die of starvation but Jesus had proved that in spite of 40 days fasting He was quiet healthy. It is worth noting here that many ‘Rishis’ and ‘Yogis’ of this material world have tried this fasting and had proved the facts narrated by Jesus Christ.
A spiritually aroused seeker, while doing meditation “merges one with God” and totally forgets about this material world – he drinks the nectar of the celestial world and this remains without food for many days. Indian yogis had lot of experience about this spiritual trance and have been detached from this material world for prolonged periods. The nectar of the celestial world has been referred in many places of the Old Testament as “Milk and Honey”. We should not compare this milk and honey with this material world – a seeker thus is contemplating the thoughts inwardly at the “inner eye” merges one with the spirit of God. His whole body is merged with spirit and the spirit does not need this worldly gratification.
Thus, Jesus told that man shall not live by bread alone – He said to live by the word which proceeds from the mouth of God. The word which God speaks to us fills our spirit and there is no need to fill our belly with food. The seeker will be hued in the spiritual; trance and forgets about the body. Jesus was tempted many times by the negative power but as Jesus were in the spiritual realm – above all the sense gratification He turned the Satan away. After trying with all the negative efforts the devil left Jesus and then “…angels came and ministered Him…” (Matt 4:11). This is the buried message of Jesus which He had ministered to the mortals for accepting Him as “Our Saviour” – a symbolic explanation of the spiritual paths procedure.
Jesus Christ has warned the spiritual seekers well in advance so that they may be aware of the draw backs and pitfalls which they will face while traveling in the spiritual paths. And Jesus before delivering His preaching’s had explained about the negative will power or Satan so that the seeker may clearly understand the aftermath of obeying negative power. Now, after explaining about Satan’s act Jesus started His mission – mission of purification of Sin through Salvation.
